So, it looks like Apple is pulling out in front of everyone else on Android. Windows Phone is dead.... As far as Android, me thinks Android is becoming like the PC clone business back when everyone was trying to make a PC. A lot of the Android phone makers will start to drop as they fight it out, dropping cost over and over again. Samsung for example is in trouble...Partly due to Apple. But a bigger problem, probably from all the low cost Chinese phone makers that are releasing phones really cheap that are "good enough". $100-200 android smartphones. It's like the PC clone wars all over again.

Actually, I disagree with you on the software part. For low level, "programming" yes. For cutting edge creative stuff, you can't outsource that. The question though is how good you are. Because people won't pay for "good enough" with U.S. wages.
Tizen is a non-start. Not making a dent in market share. Maybe for their local markets...
I think this is why you have a bunch of people suddenly fleeing to Google. They know that as hardware and chips get quickly commoditized, were the bulk of the work will be is in the Phone O/S software itself. And what better place to do it than at Google. It's not just Q losing top Android/linux talent. My sources say it's happening across the chip industry, where the people who are really good at software have figured out it's a terrible time to be working in a chip company which is primarily competing on cost.
Good enough sucks. No one cares about quality these days.
