Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Sad when you give your heart and soul to a company and they kick you out the door like your something on the bottom of the CEO,s shoe

Sad when you give your heart and soul to a company and they kick you out the door like your something on the bottom of the CEO,s shoe, feel sorry for all of the people who made the company what it is today that have been made redundant and booted out of the door, one way to bring a company to it,s knees is to get rid of all of the experienced staff and people who know what they are doing.

I refused to bend a knee or suck up to the narcissistic sociopath so-called "manager" who doesn't even have the mental capacity to manage herself - her chronic absenteeism, immaturity, stealing, unethical behavior and her psychosis. She has no degree, no management skills and no people skills. She's very incompetent. She moved in position by manipulating, trickery and deception. She can't even dress appropriately for the part. If anyone is looking for a job at NOV Corporate office, all you have to meet are the following requirements:

Be a homewrecker, enjoy having affairs regardless if the other person is married, lie your way out, steal anything you want without getting caught, lie your way out, be a pathological liar, lie your way out, dress like you work at a truck stop or auto repair shop, lie your way out, enjoy abusing people and have no conscious at all about it, lie your way out and pretend you know something. No degree required. High school drop outs are highly considered. If you meet all these requirements, then you're hired at NOV Corporate office.

Bammel's management is a joke. Embarrassing in fact. My manager is promoting a girl half her age that sits at her desk and watches videos and glues her flip flops back together! After the last round of layoffs, and witnessing NOV's lack of management and accountability, my days here are numbered. Don't care about the lame severance package!

Im pretty sure I am about to get fired and I have put a lot of my life into this job. at first I was upset, I need the money, then I thought. you know. if they are going to fire me then fine. I would rather work somewhere that I am not miserable and where the boss cares about people.

So sorry to hear that, it's heartbreaking knowing families are suffering because of the bottom line, it's not what you know but who, Yes when Pete left so did the enthusiasm of a lot of employees. a lot of smaller companies are now expanding the boundaries of new technology in the field while NOV stick to the old stuff and are slowly becoming out of date and touch with what there customers actually need and want, not even going to mention the profits they make on parts and readably available equipment off the shelf, many companies now bypass NOV and go straight to the manufacturer or another supplier simply to buy a part that is half the price that NOV would charge. Like the automotive industry, time is money and so is productivity yet when anybody mentions new technology they are made to feel like black sheep. when you loose your talent to customers and other companies you loose your ability to compete, we all know recruiting real talent at NOV became almost impossible the last time the industry had a sharp upturn, imagine what it's going to be like next time around when all of a sudden they need the people who know what they are doing but are so green they couldn't operate a screwdriver never mind a spanner. They might look like experts on paper but put them in the real world and you sharp find out they are not !! Rats leaving a sinking ship come to mind.

True! I was laid off horribly, met and even exceeded all sales and expenses reduction (not redundancy related) targets, grew the biz. Then was let go 2 months ago. I am bitter as i did well and can show it. The useless eaters remained and got re assigned. This is too much to bear for me.

A core group is building that are all tied to one another in some way or another. They are not the knowledgeable ones or the leaders...they are simply the sheep that follow blindly and do as told. The company does not care about talent and capabilities........they simply want employees who will listen and obey....who will fit inside that box they have created. Those who have left, been laid off, or taken packages are lucky in many ways. They got out and escaped an environment that is not conducive to independent thinkers and doers!!! Where is the innovation and creativity that was promised? The new technologies? Oh right! That left when they let go the wrong people and kept the ones who have never accomplished anything other than a vision inside their own mind!!!! When Pete left........so did the decency and sense of people-worth!! There can be no success without talent. The bottom dollar is important but laying off talent will not bring in the dollars. When Pete left, the writing was on the wall and the GOOD people saw that.

There doesn't seem to be a strategic intent on people unless it is to save money on bonus, stock options, etc. At least you have a lot of good company and will likely have many more before it's all said and done. The company continues to lay off experienced and GOOD people who have long memories and still seem to retain an awful lot of dead weight that never cared, never worked and won't any time soon. These decisions will haunt them horribly in the near future and particularly when the industry comes out of this downturn and all those experienced people who remember how they were treated as well as how dysfunctional the entire company behaves are now with their customers and competitors. The culture of talk a lot and actually "do" anything productive is only getting stronger.

NOV is a horrible company to work for. We'd all be better off if we quit. Let them get what they pay for.
