Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

1000 mgr layoffs vs SSL4/5 layoffs

1000 Intel managers layoffs a few years ago was also controversial, but there was much less employee outrage. Also, the former CEO actually publicly apologized for the 1000 manager layoffs. I don't see BK or any Intel execs doing the same for this ssl4/5 layoff selection process.

Qualcomm also let their laid-off people stay on the job for 2 months also. Not sure why companies do that.

I surprised my wife by asking for a divorce. I requested that we remain living together for one month and that she continues to do her marital duties. I fully expect her to keep a positive attitude and do not anticipate any conflicts. :-)

Hmm, why is Intel so stupid by allowing the laid off folks a month to officially leave? I see so many disparaging blogs and comments from those leaving and who knows what other sabotage they can do by July 15. There is a reason why most companies walk laid off folks out the door on the same day.

India manager usually hire their own countrymen. Engineers from other countries(Chinese, some Whites for example) are the ones who get kicked out of Intel. Intel is becoming an India company.

I was hired in Chandler back in 1999, noticed over the years the company became more and more populated with Pakistanis and Indians, which lead to more and more of these as they moved higher into management and hired more of their own.. Intel is no longer an American company, will be sad to see it all unwind like similar tech companies of the past.. All it will take is a new computing paradigm to take hold over the next 5-10 years...

I don't think Otellini apologized for the 1000 manager layoff. BK will not apologize as it can open up the potential for lawsuits. There was no

outrage from employees during the 1000 manger layoff since it affected only managers and no one cares about managers. They are part of the problem. For a few years after the manager layoff, groups tried to keep the number of employees reporting to a manager at 10:1, but since then things have gotten worse. There are layers and layers of useless managers some of them with 2-3 direct reports.

It is easy to get rid off managers, just make them ICs and ask them to do real technical work instead of spending time in BS meetings and playing politics. They will all quit by themselves.
