Good information 113216. I can see why one of the many changes Jana is asking for is to shake up the QC Board of Directors.

S&M cannot fix the problem at hand, because he is a hands-off man. A hands-off man needs very able troops to know what to do. He will claim the credit when everything goes well, and he will resort to consultants when things need to be fixed. He showed his political prowess when he forced the hands of the Board to promote him. On the other hand, the buck does stop with him – he is getting every buck.

SM needs to put a sign on his desk "THE BUCK STOPS HERE" in the spirit of President Harry Truman. It is time to stop passing the buck and coming up with excuses and blaming external forces for Qualcomm's problems. At his salary he needs to take accountability and fix things fast!

These things that 076 has mentioned started brewing after Sanjay Jha left. I am not saying that Sanjay wasn't a political animal - but he did not encourage sycophancy like the current leaders.

Look, admit it. Things finally caught up with QC and they got caught with their pants down wrt systemic corporate disfunction. They are going through what other large companies that have had the same have gone through and will have to pay the price for their sins. S&M isn't to blame, Jana isn't to blame, these things have been brewing for years, but were hidden by the rising tide. Now that there are finally headwinds, the disfunction is exposed for what it really is, a cancer that was eating away at the company. The big question is, can S&M right the ship? I'm sure the answer is yet, but people are going to leave, the culture will shift further, more people will work harder and burn out. The only question for you is, do you really want to stick around for this? (if so, why?).

Too many VPs and middle level managers have retired recently. Lacking of "Leadership" is widely spread in the organization.

Don't go to the press conference (CNBC interview) talking about own team's shoddy defence, or praise the opponent. Instead blame the ref, or the rain, or the crowd

the tone was joking but has an element of seriousness. Just google "CEO blames weather" and "consumer spending gas prices" to read up on the good exec talking points for CNBC interviews. It's a trend!

Investors were telling Apple to start paying dividends for a long time and Steve Jobs basically ignored them and told them that if they didn't like the fact that Apple doesn't pay dividends, they don't have to hold Apple stock...
