Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

If you think it's bad at the Q...

My buddies over at a competitor in SD just sent me this email.....

Hey it's bad everywhere in this industry. Look what just happened at my employer. Total assholes. Looks like while temp employees gain sick pay due to the law changes, pretty much everyone else ends up losing their previous sick benefits in order to "event things out". Thanks California lawmakers. So the lesson to learn is you travel to Asia on business and get MERS, SARS, or something that lasts longer than 5 days, instead of staying at home, just come to work and infect everyone else I can't wait until the employer mandates kick in for Obamacare!

July 1, 2015

TO: All U.S. employees and interns

This is an update to share some changes we are making to our paid sick leave policies for all U.S.-based employees and interns to comply with new laws.

There are three key changes:

Effective July 1, 2015,

  1. We will now offer paid sick time to interns and part-time employees. They will receive a lump sum of 24 hours sick leave (or additional hours, if required by local law) effective July 1, 2015 and every January 1 thereafter. Paid sick leave cannot be taken until after 90 days of employment.

  2. Full-time employees will receive an increase from 1.66 hours to three (3) hours per pay period to meet the requirements of the new laws. The cap on accrual will remain at 160 hours for an interim period. Employees have until December 31, 2015 to use their accrued paid sick leave balances. After December 31, 2015 paid sick leave balances will not carryover to the next year.

Effective January 1, 2016 for employees and July 1, 2015 for interns,

  1. We will transition full-time employees from an accrual method to a front-loading, lump-sum method that provides five (5) days of sick leave on January 1 every year with no option to carry over unused sick leave (three days for part-time employees and interns).

For information on your current sick leave balances, please go here.

If you have further questions about paid sick leave benefits you may:

· Review the policies

· Review the slide decks enclosed

· Speak with your manager

· Contact your HR Business Partner if you have further questions

In addition to this notice, we will provide an email notice every pay day between now and the end of 2015 with a link to our Employee Self Service (ESS) page where you can access your balances.

Well, quit voting for neo-socialist statists because you feel good about their skin color.

Idiots. Reap what you sow. Commiefornia doubly so.

The standard of living for all Americans is going to be drastically reduced starting yesterday and going forward. Enjoy your slavery, Qplebs.

Not sure why this is on here. If the other company has to do it, so will the Q. It's a California LAW. Contrary to popular belief, Qualcomm does not get to pick and choose the laws it adheres to.
