As someone who got out earlier this year. Wondering why more have not left

I left and i am much happier. My biggest problem was a lack of an ability to handle the double faced politics of my Indian and Mpls leaders - yes extreme "Demonstrate Accountability" bit me where it hurts. I spent my whole time cleaning up after wromg decisions made in the team. Since I was trying to fix and help my team and not falling in line, i kept fending off fire all the time. My life quickly degenerated into one of misery. So politics are everywhere - but I am better off. It feels more like a real job than a full time occupation of spinning off leadership bs. Well eventually everyone who affected me are out now of course. Justice finally! But there is some organizational filth which needs to be cleared out.
Wondering the opposite ... Anybody quit and regret it? Would love to hear your thoughts .. I quit and have a new (equal paying) job, but still on the fence if it was the smart thing to do .. FYI, given my job family, there was only a very slim chance of being laid off, so that wasn't a factor in my decision.
Because EBI had such a huge impact on TGT???? Move on EBI IMPACT = 0
I think the best EBI leaders are out of the business. It is time to recognize those guys with respect who are now in far better places. Can we start listing them down? Who in your minds were the best EBI leaders, KMGs or Business Managers or directors- people who were smart and had the integrity and truly made a difference?
It is all about the winning because we have tigerrs blood.
I love where this is going. It really is relevant to speak to experience playing on a Team in competitive sports when mentioning teaming or working on teams in the workplace. When you've played on a competitive team you know that while you're all on the same team and support each other, you accept that some players are better at a given role than others and certain team members can and often do get benched for a more effective team member. Frequently you or another member can get cut from the team in order to field the most effective team in your sport or discipline. Once you're cut, you move on and find another Team or you quit all together.
Anonymous112889: You really heard what you wanted to didn't you.... The analogy was used to illustrate that not every player on the team sets the strategy.... BTW, the coach on a football team sets the strategy, they're in control not the quarterback. I think you want to be the quarter back eh? And yes, Target is very much a team oriented organization. You my friend are a sad little Troll who got picked last in dodgeball and never fully realized that it had nothing to do with your ability and everything to do with the fact that you had no clue how to interact with others....
Ha ha ha - the football analogy... there are those at Target that wish to always play the quarterback and as soon as the project takes a dive, they are blaming the punter. Target is by no means a team orientated company. How could it be when you have all these type-A's and then you basically pit them all against each other to rise up the primordial pay grade scheme?
To Anonymous11282: You couldn't be more wrong. Flawless execution of one's role is everyones Job. Ever play a team sport? Can everyone on a Football team set the strategy?
To Anonymous112459:
Strategy is everyone's job!

Thank you 112459, it was good of you to lay this information out - I hope people read it, perhaps it should be a separate post.
This is so well said. Bob U was In Charge and everyone new it. But, he let his team be creative and allowed freedom of ideas and gave autonomy. Gregg S wanted to be In Charge and to prove it changed the environment to one where everyone was afraid to make the wrong decision and Leaders who knew what would/wouldn't work were afraid to challenge him or what was thought to be Greggs plan or Greggs person. This caused a terrific amount of damage.
I can't resist, but I keep reading these comments about Directors and VP's running Target into the ground or not having the ability to "run a company." Target The Layoff community: Directors and VP's do NOT run Target! They do not set strategy; they execute the goals and directives that are set by their SVP's and EVP. Based on the comments on this board if any of you do work for Target, or did, I suspect very few of you ever reported to anyone at a higher level than KMG. These Sr. Group Managers or Associate Directors may have led you to believe they had autonomy to "run their business" but in reality they did/do not. They all have a guide of roles and responsibilities and then financial, staffing/team, production, project goals etc. they are required to meet that are set for them. All of this is what Target's new leadership is trying to change by the way. They are trying to get the decisions in the hands of the leaders that execute the results. You can't however wave a wand and expect a huge group of "leaders" who have essentially been yes men/women to "transform" overnight to world-class caches and inspirational leaders. Time....
Anonymous112428: Pension, you're kidding right???? 29 years at Target, not the City or Federal Government. No my future is well cared for thanks to smart withholding, prudent investment AND maximizing TGT's 401k.
When I was there I also worked my tail off. It doesn't bother me I got let go. I will never underdtand why given my area was setup to save them millions more then the cost of it. The same happened to a friend who had a skill set they needed but they didn't realize so they hired someone outside the company for 2-4 times the cost. The bottom line is many of your directors and VPs don't know how to run a company.
So if they cut you 2 years before retirement and it impacted your pension. I am hearing that wouldn't bother you.
Because I've worked my A$$ off in 7 states over 29 years for this company and I've made hell of a good living at it. This company owes me absolutely nothing. I've earned every promotion, and every cent. I moved 11 times and I've got two more years and I'm out. I can't tell you how sick I am of bitching little me, me, me children like you.
some of us are waiting to get laid off. why quit for free when they can pay you to go away?
Anonymous112212 - dont call Anindo da like that.. he came from MSP played cricket atleas 2 days in a week and discussed politics of office in cricket ground.... now with lot of money and a dog he is enjoying his whisky...
The limping man a.k.a. Anindo left with a big package and limping to the bank...
Because they haven't been fired yet? Seriously though, when areas start getting thin, people will be asked to do the work of two people (i.e. have statuses and GTKYs with twice as many people) and more will go.
