So on my T-Mobile account, one of my old registered phones is so old they are phasing it out. So they are nice enough to send me an alcatel astro phone. Nice made in china cheap phone running Android kitkat. The most interesting part is this will be the first phone I have that uses the complete mediatek chipset. I'll see if what people say is true about things being "good enough". Can't beat the price either. Retail is $150. Lol. No it wont be like my nexus 6 phone or a galaxy s6 phone. But I am curious just how " good enough " a $150 Android phone is versus a $600 s6 or nexus 6 these days. I would think for the average user, they probably won't be able to tell much of a difference since an android phone is an android phone (O/S version being equal)....and that would be a big problem....

@ 110958: Yes, I realize there's no such thing as a free phone. But even when me and my little "stupidphone" moved between plans--where the phone should technically not cost me any extra, the cheapest plan was 35 + 5 for media and unlimited texting. Walmart might have been cheaper; but I don't trust them any further than the government. And past a certain point, it's not worth wasting gas to find a plan that will save be an extra $5 per month. Plus I bought the phone primarily for business use--so it's partially expensed.
The phone that comes with your an already is laid for by you with the cost of the plan. If you have your own.phone, the plan would be cheaper
They switched to something called AirWatch now. But to answer your question, I have never allowed AirWatch nor Tangoe to run on my phone. They make it hard to check work email from my phone? Okay fine, I just won't check work email from my phone. They make it harder to check work email from a computer by requiring "Advanced Authentication"? I check that less often now too. They don't pay me enough to give a sh** about work email outside of work hours anyway.
Do you qc guys still use that tangoe spyware crap on your personal phones? Like a doggie tracking collar, for worker bees
I've never paid for a cell phone. I just use the ones that come with the plan. I rarely give the number out. Most of the time, I leave it in the glove box of my car. The idea of being in constant contact 24/7 is invasive--especially with regard to my employer. They don't pay us enough for that. As it is, I can be reached by email on my various computers or tablets at least 18 hours per day. That's quite enough, thank you much.
