Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Weatherford als cuts shop hourly workers to a 32 hour work week.

M-Thurs work week and off Friday Saturday and Sunday. Salaried Individuals do not suffer the hit. They may not even be required to work on Fridays, but since there salaries they will get paid for the Friday as well. The boss Nick didn't want anyone to get laid off so he cut hours instead of trimming the fat which needs to be done. There are people at this shop who need to be offered severance packages because they are literally raping the system, old heads that been there forever and are useless. Any ways , what do you think ?

Grammer doesn't matter. You still get the gist. This post generated 1000+ views in 5ish days . It touched a nerve with employees. Why is this boss being called out by name? What's going on in this facility? Has upper management viewed this post and what are their thoughts? Yes, job loss sucks. Yes, this employee should fear job loss. Yes, times are hard. The hustler in you should avoid and redirect your source of income. If not, and the powers that be decide to cut you, your up shit creek.

You should be thankful that you even have a job. From what I am reading here, this seems to be the words of disgruntled employees who obviously do not look at the big picture and realize that times are hard in the oil industry. The grammar levels displayed in some of these posts are also fairly low, which would explain why some individuals are not in a management position and be entrusted to make some of the difficult decisions your leadership is responsible for. In times like these, you should probably pray to keep your job instead of praying for the boss you obviously dislike. If you have time to post on forums like these, then you should have time to better yourself and improve so that one day you could be in a management position and be able to call the shots in your facility.

We were just told that we are no longer aloud to take sick leave it vacation leave, they said if we do then they will consider it "quitting" and will be terminated. Is that legal according to Weatherford policy and federal laws?

Why are salaried staff always getting the better deal 90% of them are support staff? I'm sure the hourly staff will feel pissed about salaried staff getting the better deal? okay reduced hours gives some job security but only highlights the divide between the two.As for the boss maybe just maybe he did have his employees interests at heart?
