San Diego job market is slow, tough and over saturated. I have been looking for six months and nothing popped up yet except some lowball offers. I know that Silicon Valley is much more vibrant but I cannot leave San Diego due to family reasons. Most high tech companies here are either struggling or not hiring at all. The only companies that seem to be hiring are the ones in bio tech and life sciences. But how the heck do you make the jump from telecom with EE degree into biotech? Beats me! Hold on to your jobs at QC. Grass is not always greener on the outside.

My new "job" is to enjoy life in retirement. No more rush hour traffic for me, except now I have to figure out on what days and times all the other old f***ers are not clogging up the roads and shopping malls! Isn't anybody working anymore? There seems to be constant rush hour 24/7 nowadays, the roads are totally clogged up all the time.

Just landed a job in the Bay Area (software engineer). If you're willing to relocate there are tons of opportunities up there. Took about a month from initial contact to offer.
