Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

At what point do you think it worth staying here?

So we know that with the industry down, who knows how many cuts there will be. Even in the event of the not being anymore layoffs after this last round after October or whatever, is it worth staying here? I'm seeing no chance of a bonus, a raise, or any opportunity for growth. Sure it might get better in 2017 but by then the rest of us are going to be over worked and way under paid (with two years of no raises, I see it as we are falling behind our peers).

I'm just curious to see how many people think it's worth weathering through the storm and why.

I had been casually sending out resumes since spring, before NOV gave me the "bullet to the head" on Monday. Now of course, I am actively looking for something. Think about this: there is a worldwide glut of oil. Demand is down everywhere, including mighty China. What incentive is there for any company to buy new equipment to drill on land or in the ocean for new supplies? Yes, there's been downturns before, but we might be in uncharted territory this time around.

Why weather anymore storm? Don't you think we've weathered enough? There will be more layoffs guaranteed well into December 2015 & quite possibly beyond. Lots of plants/shops have closed and more will be closing. Once Miller left, everything went downhill. This boat is sinking fast. If it was your boat then I'd see why you'd want to stay. Why go down with the ship? You do what you think it's best. I'm moving on. Good luck to you.
