Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Is it announced or set QCT-wide that things are moving from a matrix organization or just rumor possibility at this point?

Love the BPPD metric. Unfortunately most are so helpless they have to burden the engineers because they don't know jack.

Those PowerPoint slide decks don't write themselves you know. They add up to 50 bullet points per day (BPPD)

I would love to get out of the matrix, but what to do with the worthless managers? I've seen quite a few who can't even do the technical work expected of temps. Outside of setting up useless meetings, asking for updates, and leaving early, I haven't seen them do anything.

@Anonymous133651..Lol you described the situation nicely. However there are also ( probably rare) situations where engineers want to do engineering work but they are forced to do people pushing and status collecting stuff..I know a guy in that situation, Now a day its tough to find actual technical work, lot of bloat created lot inexperienced/uninterested lead/managers that mostly like the folks who can do all the dirty work of people pushing/blame taking to save their butt...

So many folks working around directing people what to do and doing nothing technical. Tons of the senior staff doing absolutely nothing since years. Some teams are overloaded with 14 hour days and some teams were they get to workout , gossip, hang out and work minimal. So much of unbalance and too many employees. will be hard to crack and get these lazy managers out who have always been protected by their lazy boss. Tons of them in target and test organizations

I thought QCT had already been un-matrixed in the last few weeks. Maybe it will fix the completely worthless review system.

@133627: it is clear that layoffs will hit engineers mostly. Bad management will stay around.

For the number people remaining, QC cannot afford matrix and redundancy. There will be chaos as PM’s try to figure how to assess risk management. How do you minimize risk with only one group working on a project? QC will have to figure out how other companies have done this for years.

It doesnt matter since the heart of the problem is poor managers
