@133507: How much would you be willing to bet that VP RC is watching this board, after someone probably gave her the heads up that her thread had over 10k views this weekend?

133500: "600 reviews" should be "600 layoffs."

@ 133393: I'm calling B.S. Your post doesn't even make sense. (1) While you may justify the loss of morale on this website by pointing to thelayoff.com, most of the employees on this site are actually pissed that QCOM changed the grading scale used in the October reviews with no prior warning, and a lot of people were unfairly downgraded. But of course QCOM knew that the courts usually don't second guess employee reviews. Then SM and PJ took $100 million+ bonuses shortly after the earlier layoffs were announced in Novmber--December 2014. After the expense of the first round of 600 reviews, QCOM realized that in order to placate JANA, they'd have to get rid of as many employees as possible via attrition or PIPs as possible. So yeah, not knowing if you are actually going to get a GTFO package, or if QCOM would just attempt to work them to death then PIP them is a bit nerve wracking to your employees. HR and some of the newly promoted VPs might want to make a not of it. (2) You are also assuming that the only people who post on this site are QCOM employees. You forget that QCOM shafted a lot of people. There's not much QCOM can do to former employees without risking one hell of a lawsuit. There are also most likely several people from Mediatek, Broadcom and Intel who enjoy seeing the QCOM Board squirm. QCOM is, after all, the competition. And QCOM isn't exactly a paragon of virtue when it comes to business ethics, either. (3) How many of QCOM's best engineers do you think actually pay attention to this message board? There are probably more HR and legal people watching this site than engineers.

Most of the IP addresses would be dynamic IP addresses. You would need a court order to get the ISP to release the name of the person. Courts do not entertain such requests unless a crime has been committed. Denting the morale of a company is not a crime!

VPs don't enjoy cutting people as the number of rollups is all that matters, much like the square footage of ones house. HR on the other hand, loves cutting people.

There is a minimum % of your team that will be let go irrespective of which group it is. That % is below 10%. Over and above this min, each group head have their own targets. This is a painful exercise and though VPs are considered evil on this forum, they are humans and are not enjoying cutting people. As they prepare the list, they are not sure whether they will have a job. But that does not mean that should become unprofessional. Let's appreciate the fact that QC is giving enough heads-up vs. terminating access as you walk into your building.

OK, I'll bite. There is one fact all of you need to know. The morale in the company is being affected by all the activity on this website. What we need least at this stage is lose productivity further. So, we are working with thelayoff.com to get the IP addresses and some other personal info that the servers manage to gather from your computers. (The website exists to make money at the end of the day, they do sell this kind of info.) People with multiple negative posts will be included in the layoff list. We don't want these bad apples. If you are a normally diligent employee starting to get influenced by the negativity, consider this a fair warning. Those who've already had their sick fun here - it's too late for you.
