Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Who else has an app/modem solution....

So, I was just talking about about this at lunch today, and we were trying to figure out who else besides has a viable modem+app solution....Here's what we confirmed...

  1. Samsung: app/modem solution not only for their flagship phone but also selling to low cost OEMs in china.

  2. Huawei: app/modem solution viable and in some of there low cost phones, working on developing mid-tier and high end.

  3. Spreadtrum: app/modem solution for low cost phones in China

  4. MediaTek: no need to comment on them further

  5. Intel: (whatever, anyday now...:))

  6. Marvel: (on life support, probably will be acquired soon by a chinese player)

OP: maybe you are overlooking Intel and Marvell. Intel has a working modem and could be a threat in iPhone 7. Marvell has a whole mobile solution including connectivity products and PMIC. Top three positions are sewn up, but the race is still on for forth. This really means low-end competition will continue to be fierce, and a problem for QC.
