PIP (Performance Improvement Plan)

Has anyone noticed CHK is handing these out like candy? Just give me my severance.

Remember that HR is just the messenger. They are employees just like you.

It's somewhat common knowledge that PIPs are used to get people to quit. If you get one refuse to sign it, maybe they'll fire you and then you've got a chance at unemployment.

I haven't received one but won't be surprised if I do. I've been here since 2012 with rave reviews; however just got moved to a new group (not my choice) and me and this manager do not have a good relationship. He's constantly harassing me but careful not to put it in an email or within earshot of a witness. I'm going to keep collecting a check until they fire me.

Supposely it's to improve performance! My supervisor hates me and the feeling is mutual. I came to the company in December and I was excited, now I hate every minute of it!

I'm pretty sure he is talking about Cassie Niemann and Jay Hawkins since they both are in HR.

As is the case with all of the performance plus scoring, there has to be a certain number at each level. I'm sure they have to issue a certain number of PIP's in order to have their overall distribution appear that the process is working. It's all really a joke. As has always been the case at CHK, if you're in bed with the right people you will be just fine.

The PIP is news to me, I wasn't aware of it.

If you're getting a PIP, I doubt you deserve a severance package.

If you get a PIP then maybe you should start working harder????

And also if you get a PIP your chance of a year end bonus and raise are greatly diminished to next to nothing. The more PIP's that they hand out insure a bigger bonus pool to upper management.

They are...it's another simple ploy to let attrition play out before they have to take a big hit on layoffs.

I wonder if Doug received one? Short and sweet, you have one performance metric and it's stock price. Think you can salvage double digits by year end? Better yet, maybe nix your salary and bonus like you did the dividend and your compensation can be strictly awarded in stock.
