Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

It's not the number of leaders or levels of leaders that is the problem at target....

But the crap leaders that have been put in place. The optimum number of direct reports is around 5-7. That requires a lot of leaders. Guaranteed that all these individual contributors at Target....could not decide what to do, they all have different opinions and half do nothing but bitch.

Hire the right leaders and crap will get done or IC's will get fired. That is how the real world works.

100% elimination of Group Managers and Senior Directors . These positions are for people that lack the total package needed for next level. GM & SR Dir are kept around as a crutch for those above that lack the balls to be 100% accountable themselves.

The only way to eliminate layers is to actually literally eliminate them- duh

How will the TI leadership survive without these crapppy layers? They need layers to create useless hierarchy to show title power and a status symbol. Brian should first take action against these leaders at TI, who deliberately misguided HQ leadership by creating useless non technical layers. All non technical layers starting PG17 are fake. This is intentional fraud by TI leadership promoting, placing and supporting useless non technical layers. These people collect technical information from tech people and vomit infront of HQ leadership to show their skills. Brian just remove these cheaters, they misrepresent about the need for layers....this is impacting Target India productivity past 10 years.

Only place where I saw people getting promoted in less than a year in their current role. And people get promoted first and their role gets decided later! Open up LinkedIn and check any KMG+ profile, most of them have moved up every 9-12 months! Without even understanding the full cycle of their current role, someone gave them an even bigger role! That's why so many leaders without substance!

How will that change if the people that put them in place are still there above them?

Also, I think we need ICs if they have a special skill/knowledge. Why does everyone need to lead a team to add value? We have people with knowledge /skills Target needs, but they shouldn't all lead teams.

There is no fear of being fired at target for poor or no performance, the only fear is from great performers that might get laid off randomly and without any rationale behind it.
