Sunnyvale in Silly Valley equivalent to Mira Mesa in SD

There's nothing stopping people that work in Sorrento Valley to save on housing costs and live in La Mesa and Chula Vista and El Cajon. But most people don't do that, because for most people who are professionals, these areas are considered "ghetto". Just like Hayward and most of Fremont. And the last time I checked, Milipitas (even with the stinky smell from all the ancient landfill) is expensive now too.

Fremont, CA and Hayward is equivalent to La Mesa and El Cajon and Chula Vista. with the exception of one pocket of Fremont, called Mission San Jose. And that portion is extremely expensive because of the exceptional school district.

Fremont, CA and Hayward are still cheap and kind of like Mira Mesa. Cooler weather too.

For you to maintain your quality of living standards between san diego and silly valley, you would need approximately a 40-45% bump in your total comp package, factoring the increase in your tax rate just going over $200k on a W2 (or $250k joint).
