My responsibility is to research 10 different ways to set register 0 to value 1. My lead is a Senior Software Engineer who spends most of his time figuring out 20 different ways to set register 0 and 1 and to values 1 each. We both work with a staff engineer that is responsible for researching 100 different ways to set registers 0-3 to all value 1. We all report to a director that is trying to patent our work in the most efficient ways to set a register to value 1. But damn him. He wants to hire an H1-B that had experience with researching the best way to set registers 0-7. I was really hoping to get promoted to Senior Staff Engineer to do that one day.

Email VP and tell him that Director's work on the patent will never pan out, as it's lacking in novelty, and was anticipated by prior art. (See Smith & Wesson Pats.) Suggest a Jepson Patent/claims. Be the only one in your division to get a promotion and bonus this year!
