Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Who are your real friends at Target?

A lot of women did not buy the FFF, either, like me (the original poster). I really wanted to work, not go outside and play horseshoes as a "team building" activity. I wasn't a crabass about it, I had fun (hey, it was summer and they were paying me), but I didn't respect it much. I still want to work while I'm there. And, all things considered, I like what I do and would like to keep my job. I hate to say that this is a good thing in any way, but it will be interesting to see how things change over the next few years culture-wise i.e. if those with more education and experience are rewarded instead of those who are "friends" with their ETL. (Life Hack: If they won't help you hide a body, they aren't really your friend. In fact, if they don't even say "I'm sorry for your loss" when you have a close death in your family? Start wondering if they are worth your time, ETL or not.)

If you want to succeed at Target all you have to do is put a fake smile on your face, have no ideas of your own that might not fit into "Targets brand" and basically be a brain washable robot who will only go with the flow. This company as of right now is a f***ing joke!

Anonymous128848 - Anyone using Namaste is coming from a culture where titles play into their futures and so yeah it would be BS given the better the title the better off they will be in the cultural ladder.

Why is it that people can't even be honest/real when they're. Anonymous..... Here's a statement that seems to be consensus here and is a complete lie.... I joined target for the good of the team and to do the right thing no matter what. I always treat all my fellow TTS'ers better than myself and I never want a raise or to be promoted for the good of the team. Namaste! BULL SHIT!

Anonymous128404 - Another dramma queen from Target? Miss your GTKY's and coffee statuses already before they ship your sorry ass to the door?

Anonymous128404 - Dip shit you can have passionate people who care about their work just for the sake of doing the right thing. Target is full of people who only do what will make them look good even if its the wrong thing. Take the power grabs that group managers do which split teams apart and force competent people to leave.

KMG's were always in CTA mode.

KMG's should be made to code. They should be involved in resolving prod issues. They should be giving design ideas. Why they do not compare them selves with likes of people in Amazon,Sales force. Have we every got any problem solution from any KMG? They always chalk out strategies which often fail.

The extent you have a "real" relationship with anyone at work (whether it's a peer, a boss, etc.) is dependent on two things: the genuineness of their interactions with you and vice versa. Is everyone going to be your "real" friend? No ... this isn't kindergarten. If you don't "click" with your immediate co-workers, boss, etc. you have a choice: expand your circle of interactions with people outside your immediate work area or don't. To the extent you can discover, build relationships with a wide array of people at work is e natively up to you. I've seen real relationships formed and grown with life altering consequences (e.g., marriage, pregnancy, adoption, etc.). Is that the purpose of your work environment? Nope but it can be a fringe benefit if you're inclined. If you're not inclined, that's OK as well. While going overboard with a FFF environment can be stupid/counter-productive/weird it is more than good to occasionally take a break it is physically, mentally, emotionally healthy as well (remember the adage about all work and no play). If you're lucky enough to work someplace that provides the opportunity to take a breather (even if it is playing horseshoes) be grateful. There are far, far, far worse places you could make your way through life that offer you little to no opportunity to do anything that allows you a chance to do work you feel is personally, professionally meaningful ... let alone with others (even the type-A folks).

This is a re-post from earlier this year, isn't it? If it's time for summer re-runs bring back Deep Throat.

That's it! TGT just needs to NOT hire competitive people who want to get ahead. That will fix everything..... Lets hire complacent people with no ambition. Problem solved!

I always thought the culture was every man for themselves or climb over your co-workers to make it to the top? They hire so many type-A competitive people, it only makes sense. The environment is toxic in that respect because people are making decisions on what gets them to the top, not what gets the company or team to the top. It could be the reason why things are so dysfunctional from within.
