Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

An inside view of NOV Willis plant closure

I've been employed by R it was more of a Hostile Takeover. We've been drug through the streets and spat on for being the black sheep of their company. From the beginning of the buy out Mark Oland was brought in to "better" the facility, but in reality the goal from the beginning was to run us into the ground. They have been successful in this despite the hard fight we put forth. Thank you monopoly oil company for giveing it your all to put us out of business just to eliminate the competition.

The family at RMES will be missed. I wish everyone the best of luck through this hard time.

We were first made notice of this closure on Monday July 27 2015. Due to the WARN act of 1988 they have 60days to give notice of plant closure. Therefore if we are laid off before the 60days we will be paid for the remainder of the term. In addition a severance package of 1 week per yrs of service will be given to full time employees. They are scheduled to lay off the remaining employees sometime in January 2016.

The Injection gun used to shoot ERT stators has already been removed and shipped to the Breen Rd location. I'm sure much more equipment will be following directly, and most likely many trash bins will be filled with the everyday items and tools that we've come to know.

Good luck to all.

Its nothing more than a slow death and a slap in the face. They are cold ignorant thieves that can't even copy the R&M products correctly.

I remember when the take over happened. The only ones that were bought out we the Robbins and Meyers and RMES executives. They took their big payday and ran like the wind (surprised they could even move their pockets were so overloaded), and then the hostility began towards those of us that were left. Promises made that things would be okay, and there would be improvements for all. Lies were told to get some people to move to other positions, and then the carpet pulled out from under them. NOV was very careful not to put anything in writing, so that they could not be held accountable for any of their actions. The RMES employees were talked to one way, and then behind closed doors, other things were being said and planned. When you know others that moved around, whispers of what is said behind closed doors tends to find its way back to you, and believe me, NOV never intended to keep the Willis facility open any longer than they had to to rape the place of all of its knowledge and resources. They continually set the employees up for failure, and handcuffed the management team so that they could not do anything to improve their situation. NOV is a massive juggernaut that cares not for anything, or anyone as long as the top echelon receives their windfall bonuses off of the strain and toils of those that work for them. If you fail it is your fault, yet if you succeed, then it is was due to their "DIVINE" leadership. What a crock. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR TRICKERY, if they offer you the opportunity to stay on and transfer somewhere else. You will not be treated as a part of their "team"!! Anyway, good luck to all, and may God bless you and your families.

Heartfelt empathy to the Willis employees and their families.

Is there a max number of weeks on the severance for those that have been there a long time?
