Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Advice from Senior Qcommr's (5+ years ) to their Junior fellows.

I am in Qualcomm for 3-1/2 years and have limited exposure to Q culture. It will be very valuable to me and folks in similar situation to hear perspective of the folks who were here since golden days.

It's best to move on. Now. While you are most likely still young enough to change jobs easily, and are not tied down to a specific geographic area. SV is expensive, but do-able, as most employers pay well if they value your skills. L.A. is . . . L.A. If you live in S.D., you've probably been there. TX, GA and NC will take a bit of getting used to if you are an H1B. Chicago has a small tech industry. Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI are good places to work if you are interested in applications related to autos. The northeast is nice if you would like to live somewhere with actual seasons that include snow in winter.
