Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Compensation hit for those not laid off

This topic hasn't been discussed here yet. The changes in insurance will mean 4-5k less total compensation for all of us already. Now with the RSU cuts that are coming to save 300million a year, total compensation will be cut by 5-30+k depending on your title. Those of us who are not tied down to SD will probably start leaving because of this even if they haven't already started due to lack of confidence in Q. I know they talked about equity (stock options) that will replace RSU. How many of you believe that these will be of any value given that the stock probably will never rise much.

I am not blaming Obozo. I'm blaming the fools that voted for Obozo. Now they are looking at the HEALTH benefits consequences for that. Duh, gosh didn't see that coming.

Nothing to do with phone sales. Not that Obozo would have anything to do with that either. He is for "free" Obama phones though so drug dealers can do business

on the taxpayers dime and leeches on the system can keep calling for more "free" stuff.

To the guy blaming Obama, more phones are sold this year than 6 years ago when he took office.

Build a lower power, cheaper, faster chip set and you will get more of the market.

Sit and blame others and you miss the boat.

Eagles took a 14 year long vacation. I think I'll do the same. Welcome to Hotel California rules.

People are already leaving Qualcomm for greener pastures I know of 10 in the last year. So it will be a struggle for the Q to retain talent.

How about this review cycle? Will this be a regular review with a small bonus RSU and promos for the so called "top performers" and laying off people in parallel?

Wow! So many angry people ranting and raving. I feel sorry for these guys. Coming to the topic of this post, if Qualcomm doesn't pay what other companies are paying, of course engineers will leave. OP is right that the overall comp will reduce for everyone eventually. Some of the angry trolls gave the right advice, bowever unwittingly. The sooner you find another company that pays more, the better.

IF you voted for OBOZO maybe you can see how elections have consequences.

Obozocare is another contributing part of this.

Cry me a river. bonuses and rsus are meant to be paid only if the company is doing well. News flash, when a company is eating shit, it doesn't owe you a bonus or rsu grant worth beans. Welcome to how the real world works. Now stop being self entitled crybaby. If you can find somewhere else to comp you better, then go for it and leave. But if you look at every semi company, you'll find the same thing. If money is so goddamn important to you, you should spend more time investing in yourself and figure out a way to make more passive income elsewhere. I might not be senior director, but my work compensation + passive income elsewhere makes it comparable, plus I have much better tax efficiencies with part of it not being on w2..grow a pair and stop counting on your w2 so much. Crybabies

Do you imply that you cannot live on your bloated base salary alone? Shame on you.

Bonus and RSUs are supposed to go to those that perform above average @Q, or show their face from early in the morning through late in the evening, and don't take multi hour "exercise" breaks in the middle. In reality, it's for those who are in the track of being trained for moving into the management to continue the status quo. Chapter #2 from the science of stable society 101.

You should be more interested about the hit that executive suite will be taking this year. I'll venture a guess that it'll be 0. What are you going to do about that?

I don't understand people always complain about compensation.

If you don't like it, LEAVE!!!

Q people are spoiled and think they are entitled to all kinds of benefits.

Many companies do not offer RSU, ESPP. Employees have to pay part

of the insurance. Q people used to pay nothing for insurance, RSU, so people take it for granted.

The company faces challenges. It cannot be business as usual any more.

Find another job and get out.
