Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

If someone is spared in this round of layoff, what should be his strategy?

Is there any point in trying work hard and hope this will never happen to you?or it's just the delaying the eventual and eventually most of us in QCT SD will be let go sooner or later?

if you feel the company is led by morons then you have no business working here. leave, find another job and leave. it's not productive to work for a company where you have no faith in leadership. If that's you feeling then find another job, nobody is holding hostage to this or any company.

Or the reality is you have no clue how to run a company yourself so you just bitch and complain because things are going perfectly. surprise, welcome to real life.

Work normal till I find something better. Used to work hard and got rewarded good, but not as good as the usual assume kisses in the gang of the boss... So now that compensation and rewards are reduced, we'll start having a work life balance...at the end, it doesn't matter how hard you work it seems if the company is led by morons

If you think the end is near and you don't want to work hard, then please do everybody a favor and leave. There are people who think we can be successful but we cannot with a bunch of half-assed engineers. If you stay, continue to work hard. Otherwise, go find yourself another job. while you're at it, compare the comp and benefits and see what the industry norm is. I have many friends at other high tech companies and the packages are about the same if not less. Don't fool yourself into thinking everything is doom and gloom without first seeing what reality is - especially true if qualcomm was your first job and you act like an entitled little rich kid. I've worked at plenty of other jobs and qc still offers much better benefits and comp.

The way I look at it us even if w does survive and thrive. Around the employee benefits and comp packages will never be anywhere close to where it once was. So those days of good bonus and rsus will be long gone, while those at the top will get more and more to offshore more and more. So unless you are one that had a boatload of unvested stocks, Find another company that pays/compensates better. It certainly won't be a chip company competing on cost.

What do you want out of life? For most people the answer won't correlate with what continuing in Q till your layoff finally comes will get you.

If you are young and have a lot to offer I'd leave for greener fields asap.

Honestly, I think it's only a matter of time -- tomorrow next week/month/year but it's coming. QCOM is done. Do your work as usual until the Grimm Reaper comes knocking on your office door.

Just my opinion...

Well as always it depends. Depends on what you do, speak with your peers and get their thoughts on that.

Despite the it's all doomed chants by some here that they know the future, nobody knows the future.

There could be many years left to make a living if one survives this or future layoffs, even a split could result in a better situation

for some. Nobody really knows. I suspect something in the middle. Good for some, bad for others.

Bottom line whatever decision you make do your job as usual and don't burn bridges.

A good character and reputation will help to find work later either way.

My opinion:

for emploee:work hard,be innovation, less politics and team work. all these things will help the company moving forward and ahead of competition.

You should bring chocolate chip cookies, brownies, bagels with cream cheese, muffins and Starbucks in for your boss.
