123823: I agree. Thank god I married the smartest bitchin' attorney in the valley--and she DIDN'T take a job with QCOM! And we didn't buy a house in North County because the commute would suck for her job. If I get a job in SV or LA, she agreed to try to transfer. Until then, we are fine. Dudes, if you've been laid off, there's only one way out of this mess: Get rid of the nanny and the extra status wheels and toys, pimp out the wife to an industry that has to meet their PC gender quotas, and come up with an idea to make money that doesn't involve doing work that you hate.

OP. Its not going to be bad for some of us. For example: Thank god I married an Asian woman that has her own dental practice who loves me. She said if I get laid off, I can stay at home with the kids while she works. I was getting sick and tired of being a Q engineer that worked longer hours than her and made less than her. Buy I do enjoy driving my Land Rover around when I get groceries for the family. I am very thankful she was able to lease it for me as part of a business expense. I love that woman. She does such a great job taking care of me and putting me on a pedestal.

Don't worry. I am confident that blondie will file for a divorce to avoid the financial stress and find some 50year old sugar daddy. Like I always say about marriage. It's a lot like nice cars. Its cheaper to rent than own. Because you can do a trade in after 4 years, for something brand new that feels tight, and avoid paying for most of the expensive maintenance and unexpected expenses, and let someone else deal with the preowned inventory.
Finally. A lesson in fiscal responsibility among a significant amount of fiscally irresponsible people will finally be learned...You can't finance your lifestyle to oblivion and expect the government to bail you out. Certainly didn't happen in 2008, certainly won't happen now. Bring on the pain train.
