Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Not making it better for yourselves

In these times its hard to be positive, but that's the best one can do. Thousands of posts about bad hiring practices, bad management, etc. Does that not mean there is some house keeping due? The whiners must also trust that hiring yourself was a smart move. Trust that same smartness to do smart house cleaning. I have been a Manager who had to let go of employees and contractors who were on H1b. When one of them got emotional, it was the hardest thing I have had to do as an Engineer/manager. I have done programming/engineering for 25 years now. By far, nothing was as hard. I had connected with these guys as a human being. If one presumes no effort is put in making these decisions, and uses words such as GTFO, it makes dealing with the decision harder for everyone. After the Director delivers all these tough calls, he may be the first to go. The words you choose to use in your head matters.

You obviously failed to read between the lines in SM's statements and Qualcomm's press releases. Qualcomm's days in San Diego are numbered except for a few key activities. "The Incredible Shrinking Company"

it took 30 years and an activist to look at things from ROI perspective?

@Anonymous123809: 1) Barry didn't lend any money. 2) Barry forcing QC into austerity is perfectly fine. Terminate all the waste. OP was trying to say people's humanity matters in these situations? it doesn't. OP needs to think like Barry and stop giving two $hits about people. Wasn't that "emotional" dude just another whiner in his eyes anyway? Why was it so difficult to terminate with extreme prejudice? "GTFO" is perfect.

I don't have to trust anyone who hasn't earned the trust. FU OP and your lecture.

Captain Irony, if it weren't for ROI metric, QC would still be a wanna be tech company. When was the last time you lent a fortune to someone without any expectation of returns...If all the whiners on this board think so much about themselves then why are they so dependent on someone to provide livelihood...go start on your own and see how much shit can you swallow...folks like OP will always come out on top while the whiners here will be in the same boat again and again...

Barry is a financial Nazi and QC is his latest concentration camp. He doesn't hear your screams from The Hamptons. To him, you aren't human. You are an ROI metric.

GTFO H1Bs. Is that clearer?

Well said, but at the levels which it matters (wall St financial engineering) it IS as impersonal as "GTFO". Little dots to squash. The walking dead are just added cost which must be terminated with extreme prejudice.
