Irwin sold phone, there is no core competency for a Q phone anymore, the couple recent protos are bland.
Breaking into phone now in a way that supports our high end chips requires innovation and skills Q doesn't have.
If we had kept out hand in phones and infrastructure this would be a much stronger company today, but the Q way is to sell off a division if it underperformed, and now QCT is there.
Intel modem is just as good as QC’s. <<< It really matters not how good your modem is, what matters is, "Can your codebase support efficient link management and real-time signal strength control and transparent handoff?" Intel is not able to write good software, and so they FAIL at this step.
Since QC has kill off most of companies in mobile, there are plenty of RF/mobile design engineers that can design excellent cellular radio and modem. Intel modem is just as good as QC’s.

Samsung is lost (and besides, they are losing market share). Intel is making really good progress into Apple.
I'm sure if we made our own smartphone it would turn out as well as our own smart watch!
