Instead of looking at it like they are dragging it out and causing stress, why don't you see that they are giving you a long time to find another job? Real stress is when they call you in on Friday at 2pm letting you know not to come in on Monday or thereafter.
If they do it fast they can't PIP your ass, squeeze out all of your blood and then terminate you without a severance package. It's the Qualcomm Way. That's the "why wait" campaign. So we can run you into the ground fire your ass, avoid unemployment, avoid giving you a severance package, and unlocking the doors on the balconies so your ass can jump. They're going to need a whole lot more janitors mop up up all the bodies. So if I were you, I'd start looking for a job right away. I started several months ago when I heard the rumor. I'm lucky.
