Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

If QC was loyal to employees it would layoff H1Bs and contractors first. Wonder if that would cover the layoffs in the US?

A $200k eng can be replaced by 4 or 5 eng overseas; this is a dream to think that any employee cannot be replaced, especially with today's technology; the trend is to have more telecommuter workers, it becomes a worldwide competition.

A $100K engineer cannot produce the innovation that a $200K engineer ... it would be foolish to get rid of talented designers thinking they can be replaced for a lower-paid engineer.

Obviously, that first reply came from an H1B. Give the work back to US citizens and watch productivity and quality increase. I think its better to pay an employee who can do the work a higher salary than to hire 3 employees with less talent at a much lower salary and have productivity and quality decrease.

Fiducially, it would make more sense to Layoff people whose Salary is significantly higher than the rest of the employees, and statistically you don't need $200K jobs when ~$100K job can also do the same thing. So, I believe, on the contrary QC should layoff all US citizens.
