Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is it illegal for Intel to tell my future employer I was fired because of repeat low performance ?

i won't be employable by any other companies. I am not sure if any law can protect us from that kind of discrimination

I think the real issue is not about keeping "repeat low performer" label secret but whether it is true for any one who were given ssl4. It is not true for a good number of employees, which is why so many people are angry about it.

Anonymous122556: do not assume the information leaked are from the one getting ISP. What's wrong is that intel assumes they can fire 1000 people quietly. However, they still need to file it with EDD. People are labelled with low performer and intel maintain a blacklist implicitly telling the industry that these people are low performers. Do not hire them, which is illegal

To be fair to Intel, it never publicly announced this performance based layoff. It's people that leaked the info out and all of you that posted on this board that made this public knowledge. Then again, you can always say your entire group was cut at the same time as this layoff or you quit at this time. If you impress at the interview, why you left shouldn't matter.

Interesting. I can see the future. Intel will pioneer it. Humans have no future. Robots are the future homes for sentient beings. It is all in neural nets and IoT and massive clouds. Humans have less than a few hundreds years left to do it. Intel will do it. Our future is in silicon: just a fact.

Not illegal. Companies can hire/fire at will. Big deal. If you are grasping onto a company then you have head/skill problems, because people who have clear minds (not sh** polluted minds) and great skills are highly sought after people. Most people with great skills know that Intel is a sweat shop company and won't work there to begin with, dah. Getting laid off is a GOOD thing. Who cares ?

It is not illegal as Intel have documents to proof by giving us SSL4 or 5, which intel could use as evidence they are saying the truth. The employee handbook has been updated with what those levels mean with or without employee knowledge.

Cunning ...

Anonymous121968: it is actually illegal to maintaining a blacklist for rehiring in some states.

Employee reference law: blacklisting . Is there anything ISP folks can think about going after if they really can't find a job in an extended period of time

Whatever an employee has done poorly in an organization, you would give them at least an opportunity to improve. It was the case for people getting IR, but not the people getting stock level 4 grant. In addition, the penalty already served if employee got ssl4. Why destroy their future employment opportunities ??? This is so discrimination to me. Any lawyers here can help?

Intel's managers did this to those folks they don't like unfairly. They are lied about the performance issues. God is fair. They will be haunted the rest of their own life.

Why Intel hates us so bad and have to make 1000 employees life more miserable as necessary?? I talked to several employment lawyers and they are not interested in our case

Intel will only tell potential employers you were employed by Intel. Now if you give a contact that directly takes the future employer to a reference, all bets are off. But Intel will only tell employers looking for references you were once employed by Intel from beginning date to end date.

And this is precisely why those who were laid off for "successful" focals with ssl4/5 should get a law suit going against Intel. Intel ruined their reputations by clumping them in with the "low performers". Most of those who were laid off with ssl4 never heard the words "low or poor performance". Now this guy asking this question, yeah, you are screwed.

Good luck, this just shows how much employees matter to Intel, they should have some respect at least to the departing people if not for themselves. It is a tyranny, with lots of immature managers who drink the koolaid of "I will change the world", while they really were rejects from other companies. I hear San Diego is the worst.

Don't be sad, you will find a better job.

The CEO already publically said it was performance based. The people who got laid off because of other reasons had better prepare some backup, like references.

It is already public knowledge. They just do google search intel layoff 2015. It's all there with ISP letter and package details
