Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

The cold hard truth

I've been with QCOM for well over a decade. My personal view from having witnessed the changes over the years is the following:

Irwin was a great leader, and is a great man. He mainly cared about the people who worked for him, everything else was secondary.

Paul J., despite his critics, was a very good leader, and also a good man, but half the leader Irwin is. He split his loyalties equally between people, money and technology. So, we had a corresponding loss of "Irwin Culture" while Paul was in charge.

Steve M. is half the leader Paul is. He and George (the new CFO) care nothing about the people. There is no trace of Irwin Culture left. If they thought they could liquefy the bodies of QCOM employees to make a quick buck, they would be creating the QLE (Qualcomm Liquified Employees) division right now.

It is rumored that JANA wants Sanjay back in charge. The main difference to the employees if Sanjay took over is that he would be personally whipping those who turn the crank on the liquification machine.

Irwin wasn't all that great, he laid off and sold off like SM, he just knew how to spin it. There are plenty of ex Q people who think very little of Irwin.

Why did you expect anything better from Steve Mollonkopft he basically got the job by Blackmailing Qualcomm? They foolishly thought Microsoft's job offer was a threat. If the company had any perspective on the technology industry, they would realize that they gave Mollonkopft the CEO position to kept him from jumping on the Titanic. The fact that he gets to keep his job or at least, his rank, under these circumstances is .... astonishing.
