Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoff - what factors influence or cause the bad ratings to be given?

If you have three or more of these factors you have a very high chance of getting SSL4/SSL5 or IR

  1. Over 40

  2. Good performer with outstanding / exceeds ratings in the past put you at the top of the "grade band"

  3. You've been getting only successful and SSL3 with very small to no raises (as you're effectively salary grade band "capped")

  4. You cannot be promoted as you are only "successful" so you haven't been promoted for a long time (exacerbating 1 and 2)

  5. You are rotating out or up for the next assignment or your project is ending and they know you are to transition out to a new role

  6. You go on Sabbatical, Maternity/Paternity/Medical Leave of Absence

  7. You might have higher medical costs for yourself/your family

  8. Your group has been re-organized

  9. You have a new manager.

I had every single one - maternity and sabbatical, group reorg, 4 new manager in 2 years. If Intel wants technical females why is it penalizing us for taking vacations? Terrible mixed messages.

It sucks that you can work your ass off and still only get Successful, but your colleague just does the minimum and also gets Successful. That's Intel meritocracy.

And if and when those minions tell BK that he made a mistake, I wonder if BK will ever admit to the employees that he made a mistake. BE (Below Expectations) is still being referenced in the Focal Guidelines (for the definition of a Repeat Low Performer) and BK referenced "BE" a couple times in his Q & A at the recent BUM. I am not sure why current Intel people don't like that this info being leaked. I, as a current employee, want the world to know what stupid decisions are being made in the hopes that these idiots don't continue doing it.

Very good summation of the situation. I can't believe more people at intel are not outraged about this and do not see how insidiously underhanded this whole thing is. If you don't think this will eventually happen to you, then you are seriously deluded. Everyone terminated believed the lies. You are successful. Your SSL award and crappy raise is because you are at the top of your grade level. You are doing a great job. We are very happy with your work. Your project is too important to cancel or to be affected by an ISP. Blah blah blah.... ....and all the while, you have been under performing and ripe for the culling.
