Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

If I am affected by this layoff, I will jump from Building N balcony and land in the lobby...I can't take this anymore!!!

Not sure what I would tell the wife and kids if I lost my job and we had to move. Best to end this shameful life and send a clear message to the Q. I will live on as a martyr like those before me. HR won't be able to cover this up after customers see this as they are checking in at the lobby.

119985: Cancel her credit cards and give her enough cash each week to cover food and expenes. If she wants more, she'll have to get a job. Smartest thing my wife did was insist that we maintain separate finances after we got married.

Troll, you're making light of the previous unfortunate incidents at QC.

Nevertheless, if there's even the slightest possibility that you're not a troll, I'll echo everybody else's sentiments expressed here: it ain't worth it. Take tomorrow off and go adopt a puppy.

Dude!! I also used to think the same when I could not get into a university of my choice, later realized all these things are temporary, with every jolt in life, you become more and more better. F**k the Q, there are lot of companies and jobs. Even if I am GTFO'ed or not, Q is not the place to work what it was.

Not gonna argue for or against suicide, but if you do want to jump, 2 things to consider: 1. Prepare to fight other jumpers for a good spot. 2. If you're gonna die, why not consider taking those responsible for the situation with you?

Please do not joke about jumping off of any Qualcomm buildings. We have already had 2 jumpers off the buildings over the past couple of years - they were both from the QCT division. It is sad to think that a company, who only thought of them as a number, could reduce a person to take their own life.

Regardless of what people say, just know that if you landed a job at Qualcomm, you have exceptional talent. Whatever decision is made by Qualcomm is not a reflection of your intelligence and capability to be an excellent worker. Qualcomm is going through some tough financial times and they have very difficult decisions to make as a company. Being in tech, you are in the top industry in the US. You will be able to bounce back on your feet faster than folks in other industries. I am sure you'll do better than 90% of folks looking for a job in this country. It may seem hard right now, but take it a step at a time. Trust yourself and what you've accomplished so far. Qualcomm is not worth you ending your life, nor is your wife.

Realizing stressing over job is all my life has come to. It's not about Q. Nothing brings pleasure. What is ahead - existing is you call it that, still just a slave to others needs or own vanity ambition and pathetic desires.

We should all jump. I hope courage appears when time comes. Good luck

I am considering suicide if I did NOT get laid off. I need to slog in only to fulfill my bitchy wife's shopping desired and she is not letting me quit voluntarily...my wife is the one stressed out about me getting off, I will be very happy to be stay home husband and have fun!!! I did whatever I can do to get successfully laid off ( reduce performance,do intentional mess up,fight with bosses...but I am afraid that I did not do enough and may not picked up for this round )...rest is in SM hands!!! PLEASE SAVE ME FROM MY WIFE...

I agree with Anonymous119952. A job is a job. Especially in tech, you'll get laid off several times in your career. Move on, go find another job maybe with less pay and benefits. Take care.

Layoffs lead to depression, and depression leads to suicidal thoughts. Before you do anything you might regret, think about how your family will fair after you are gone. You can do without the Bimmer, the private school, and the big house. When you get through the tough times, you will be a better person and not take things for granted.

You are probably kidding. But killing oneself especially when one has a family is probably the biggest ahole thing you can do to the people that care.about you the most...and it would be for the stupidest reason. A stupid, replaceable job. I am sure your family would rather see you more than the money you bring in...

I think they put net across building to prevent these kind of things,so check before you jump....it's horrible when one try to suicide but not dies and end up ALIVE with crippled body...BTW I don't think suicide is a very good idea so please reconsider your decision.

Life is more than Q. Realize it my dear brother. Your wife and kids are more than your job at Q. Remember their life will be shattered too, they need and love you more than your position/money at Q

99% sure you are joking but if not please don't be absurd. Anyone from q could at the least get an entry level job SOMEWHERE and you are worth a hell of a lot more to your family alive
