The manager set's up a department meeting in your site and inform you that the decision was made to shut down your site and ask you to move to somewhere far from your location and usually very hot or cold and if you decline to move you will go on redeployment. This is the tactic they used with our group. They then through the VSP at us for people who been successful last three years, followed by ISP for successful with SSL4/5. No matter what you do if you make good salary and over 40 you will get laid off. I was six months away from retirement benefits and my entire career with this company. Find another job ASAP if you are over 40. The list of affected employee that Intel sent me which they have to by law is 90% over 40 yr old. This company discriminates against 40 yr olds and up. They are worse that gangsters. Believe me I know.

A big law firm should file a class action, except Intel legal is really smart and has already hired most of the labor lawyers on retainer so they won't represent the ex-employees. If you can't beat them, buy them! It's interesting Intel seems exempt since there is an ADEA lawsuit going against Google (median age of employees = 29).

Looking at the 40 plus list of people laid off it can't be more clear they are discriminating against age. A big law firm will eventually file a class action. Its just a matter of time and who has the bandwidth to go against the bully Intel with its 1000's of lawyers. What I found out is they have hired most of the local labor lawyers in nearby site that were affected so they wont even talk to you.
Actually, take a look at 48 and older. Intel did age discriminate based on years of employment for the most part. Problem is.......there's nothing that can be done. No lawyer will go up against them for some reason.
