Anonymous 123108, are you certain about the company not needing to set aside enough cash to cover accrued vacation/sick/personal time? As things stand right now, if the company folded they would need to be able to pay these balances out.... if they change the plan to 'take all the time you want while you're here but you can't take it with you', then maybe they won't need a reserve to cover the liability. Look forward to the changes in the new year.... they have been pretty generous to HQ in the past but I'll bet it will be a different tune in 2016.
There are more benefits to the company. Most people don’t take all their 3-4 weeks, and without a vacation balance, it is easier to reject or delay vacation requests. The company does not need to set aside cash for accrued vacation. Accrued vacation is considered a financial liability. The lost to employees is probably equivalent to 10% in pay cut.
Had this at my old company - you take time off, you are not contributing as much as guys who are not, they get you on the promo/rating/bonus side - you get zilch, they push you out. I hated it. I took even less time off.
120056... Nailed it. Too forward-thinking for Target but would be great if they got it together and started competing with other companies on the things that really matter to TMs and execs!
don't see what the big deal is. Most people don't use up their vacation anyways. Considering KMGs have almost a dozen DRs now, they can't be gone that much. This will just be a perk on paper
They are the GTKY/coffee status pros. The less they are around the better.
gross............
Spoken like a true KMG. Yeah let's give the top paid people even better benefits while the rest have to once again wait and see.
At the rate of promos and freeze's for promo's, I'll have to wait until year 5 for three weeks. No chance in getting to PG 15 before then..
It's the trend in other companies to allow people to just take whatever time off they want/need, with the understanding that they keep up with their work. Seems a little too forward thinking for target but if anyone is going to experiment with the idea it will be the upper mgmt. The rest of us can wait to see if this benefit trickles down. The negative aspect to this might be that when you leave you won't have remaining hours to be paid out. - But that could be a positive thing for target.
0-5 years you'll get 3 weeks
Is this true? After the rest of us have been asking for more vacation time on BTS every year? This job is stressing me out too much to wait until the 5 year mark to get more.
