selling/spinning off qct wouldn't really make sense. but if that was on the table, and qct was to be spun off as a separate company, i think it would make sense to grab broadcom's connectivity group before someone else does. that would eliminate any other major connectivity player, since the q would already have atheros and csr. intel would be stuck building everything by themselves. i doubt avago will keep the low margin connectivity business of broadcom.

OP: It may not make sense, but if enough money exchanges hands to the right people, it will happen.
The only question is which bank will collect the fees
it is so obvious that the chip business will be sold, and then operated out of a country with lower corporate taxes, like Taiwan. Future phones will have tiny stickers that say "4G by Mediatek"
