110417: If you plan to sue, you must tell HR. If you want to keep it from biting you in the @$$, file an EEOC complaint first. You have 180 days from the last incident to do this. You will need a right to sue letter from them, anyhow. The forms are online. That way, if HR or your supervisors take any negative action in response, you can (rightfully) claim retaliation, as well.

NEVER talk to HR about a workplace issue. Talking to HR is like telling a corrupt cop you witnessed a crime. They will act like your friend, but all that really matters is closing the case. Next thing you know, you're the prime suspect and are under arrest! Don't fall for the trap.
John Lennon said it best: "mediatek is what happens while u are busy making another Gantt chart plan"
it is pointless to talk to HR .....if you complaint you are disgruntled employee ...that is what will HR and your present manager will say.... so there is no point in doing all .... as you might have seen "choose a boss when you join a company"....not the company, money etc......the number of managers and beyond is more than worker bees.....(engg,Sr.engg,etc).... it is like having an army where there are more generals than soldiers....so how can win war against mediatek which is nimble and "less managerial" company...... Qualcomm has gone into dump.....
Document and have concrete evidence of his/her racism. Then file a lawsuit. Someone needs to set an example otherwise, Q will continue to look the other way.
@110138 - This is SO TRUE. I am in a group where several people have gone to HR to talk a problem and now they are flagged as trouble makers. This is like Obama administration, screw up the country but take no blame.
If Q wants to keep a manager who only works 20 hrs. per week, There's not much you can do. If your manager is a racist and you can document it--that means with with sworn declarations from witnesses or in writing-- report it to HR. Don't show them the declarations--or your potential witnesses will be screwed over, as well. HR will probably do nothing. But once you report it, if nothing is done, you can sue. Blank Declaration forms are available on the California State website. Google: Find California Forms AND judicial. Alternatively, you can try transferring to another department/division.
looks like @antisemite got some attention at SI: http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=30120935
HR will just say you are the problem. Then flag u as a problem .
Calling the ethics hotline won't help. Your best bet is to IOS or leave the company. HR will not help you.
Call the Q's Ethics hotline
Change your skin color. If Rachel Dolezal can do it and get away with it, so can you!
