Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Why haven't any managers or supervisors been laid off?

I work in a mfg facility and we have lost 15 people in the last round of layoffs, yet none of the management has been let go. We have several managers that have one person working under them...or they have had a management position "created" for them...does this happen at anyone elses facility??

It amazed me to see how newer employees injected themselves into other employee duties in order to secure their place while they were still there. I think a lot of the laying off procedure was illegally done and quite disgusting but hey, they have to live with themselves... Not me. I'm so much better off and trust me, the grass is much greener on the other side!

If your good friends with upper management and your a manager, you didn't loose your job just change job title. Never seen a company with so many ASS kisser and lazy employees who ended up keeping there job, while the good ones where let go.

1 warehouse manager, 1 shipping/ receiving manager, 1 guy in receiving, 3 leads, and 5 little employees. Do the math. That's what we deal with on a daily. Go team Weatherford.

Not true where I work!!! I work at a mfg facility that has been through 3 rounds of layoffs and it was brutal. Current headcount down about 200 from Jan. Managers, supervisors were let go just the same. Salary, hourly didnt matter. Seems like it was based on numbers and percentages.

Wtf didn't want to let go of any one who brings in money .. Hence management and sales positions harder to get let go , I had sales guys that would just sit around with nothing to do all day except take phone calls ...fall asleep at their desk .... Which manager could have done easily to replace them. I was let go to save the sales guys and a few others ...they are now taking on my duties to keep them selves busy. Crooked and not right .. now they are doing my job at a much higher pay rate. And what about ceasing job bonuses ? All that free money they get just for revenue at the shop is like another paycheck.

WFT logic is that managers are somehow harder to replace? Rumour had it Q3 was the turn of management to be hit? I have also heard some facilities had managers managing only a few and if this post is true how can they justify a manager managing one person?

Wish I could answer your question, but seems that's the norm @ WFT. Here at Corp office, there are numerous Finance managers with no direct reports.
