Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

non compete

Can anyone provide any information on our non compete if we still currently work for Target. I have an opportunity to work for a vendor, but I'm not sure about the non compete or if I should contact HR. Thanks!

Rule #1- DO NOT sign anything that you didn't sign when you joined the company. Which unless you were VP and on a contract does not include a non-compete.

Target can make your life miserable if you work on the Target account with out permission of a pyramid head. They will threaten the vendor and ban you from calling on them. I have been hearing that they're been pretty good about folks who've they've laid off.

The "rule" BTW is 2 years.

As far as going to a competitor there's NO restrictions on your movement. Everyone is a free agent.

There is no non-compete. You can immediately go work for best buy or Amazon or whomever. You cannot work for a Target vendor or supplier on the Target account however.

He might survive a few months longer than predecessor.

I second that - but . . . .if you'd rather be safe than sorry, you can either request (of your new employer) that you work on accounts other than Target for 2 years or ask your VP for a waiver to work on TGT projects. This is what we lay-offers are bound to. But again, you're not under contract to Target, and Target sure isn't under contract to you. Take care of yourself & family first.

Target doesn't give a crap about you, do what you have to do. We are all self employed theses days.
