Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Herd there will be a number of new job postings May 11th (90 days after the Canada cuts). Any truth to this rumor?

HR folks, anything to offer here? Have you been holding back to post until Monday?

They need to fire the people who just go around and have meeting and blow a lot of smoke. When plan was transformed that entire team should have been let go. instead they all moved on to something else and still provide no results because the people on that team have no skillz.

If you ask me this is a bad news for people already at target, reason - they are getting ready to chuck out roles/people that cannot be aligned to the new transformed world.

99981, I think the response comes from a place of if you had a choice why would you choose to go to an unstable company like Target. There is a lot of change hoing on there and there are plenty of other more stable opportunities in the marketplace

Also, there are VERY few postings in the midrange (EX 9/11/13) right now - like, under a dozen in ALL of Minneapolis/Brooklyn Park. So I'm hoping they're holding out until next week. My former team & partner teams have lost several TMs after the layoffs, and have not yet been given the OK to post.

I was part of the Canada round, and I'm getting my Profile/Resume info updated on the Target Careers page this week. As tough as the layoff was, if I can find a good fit back at Target (at least in the next couple months) I'll absolutely go for it. After 11 years, I'd sure prefer keep my years of service there than start over regarding benefits. Don't get me wrong - I won't turn down other offers, but they haven't exactly been rolling in . . . . .

I get that a lot of people have hard feelings about being laid off, but... corporations act purely in their own interest, at all times and without remorse or hesitation. The nice words on your review and those GTC's you got are just to make team members feel like they're valued so they do better work. A big company will always lay you off/replace you the moment they decide it's the best choice for them. Before I was laid off on 3/10, I had no illusions that Target thought I was special or valuable, so while I was surprised, I wasn't particularly bothered. It's not like Target personally "wronged" any of us, so who cares if you find another job there? At least you know the cafe menu already.
