Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

The old and the new Target....

What was RIGHT in old Target is WRONG in 'new' Target.......managers were told to manage contractors and develop talent...they were told to speak strategic in meetings, talk LE language, network over lunch and coffee statuses, built advocacy and their personal board of directors. They were told not to get into boring details and leave the details to front line leaders. Today these managers are ICs and are expected to write the codes! Many of them have to get back to their schools to re-learn how to write codes....the smart ones will quit and go.,..the misfits will stay back, get exposed to be coached out. This is Target RESTRUCTURING. In all of these the leaders who created the old Target continue to call shots in the new Target. Neither they are ready to take accountability for the mirage they created nor they will lead by walking the talk in the new Target. Currently they are lying low but soon they will start rebuilding their nepotist teams and groups. Brian, your belief of "Respectful leadership" cannot breed if these leaders are still on your team....

Our area is still full of the status, GTNY, catch up lunch crowd. I thought there would be a long term change. Nope - back to the same old routine. We still will be evaluated on the intangibles instead of our actual contributions.

what this person is saying make sense. Brian laid off 20% in March to please the investors. Now what is happening in the name of COEs and restructuring across TTS, BI, Pyramid teams is driven by VPs and DMGs having vested interests.. If there are any talented Managers with deep skills and competencies should leave Target and go...there are better places outside where good work is still rewarded.

All the women in HR and OE.....they change talent philosophy and frameworks like changing their nail colors...OE is now L&D, LE is now transformational leadership...Gregg or Brian....they are there to dress them up....F***:)

Bravo! every senior leader thrives on nepotism...do you think Brian is not one??? $@!% they are.....purpose and beliefs are hog wash......the layoffs and restructuring is for the investors......no body cares for teams...every KMG+ leader is worried about keeping their jobs......so thats why your role is restructured. Take charge of your career and do it selfishly.....selflessness does not exist anymore at Target nor in the outside world. GET REAL
