Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Make it a good one

if this week ends without taking the opportunity to cut deadweight management (APM PS-America anyone?) then something is deeply wrong.

Your golden goose must be defective because it doesn't lay any golden eggs but instead it lays a load of smelly crap. The APM (or OPNET) PS was a complete waste. When outdated, lazy, useless PS are being propped up and when demand for their outdated services decline then when the inevitable comes they should be cut! When your costs are greater than your revenue, you are losing money. Basic math, but since it doesn't involve saving your worthless job, you can't do it. Intelligence matters. You'll never learn.

RVBD buys OPNET and adds to an already bloated corps of middle management.

When the inevitable struggles ensue, Elliot steps in, hands the ball off to corporate raider Thoma Bravo and layoffs occur.

So, is the deadwood middle management cut? Nope, the decisions of who to cut is passed down to first level supervisors.

The old-boy network kicks in and only foot solders are purged.

Way to go RVBD, you just killed the golden goose. When billable resources are eliminated, the ration of non-billable resources goes up.

Basic math, but since it doesn't involved calculating your personal bonuses, you can't do it. Experience matters. You'll learn.
