Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Good people suffer because of too many lazy employees and CYA management style

Walking my way to the fab floor, I see LOTS of people in the open floor plan just goofing off on the internet, Youtube, fantasy football, you name it. Meanwhile, those of us trying to get our foot in the door for a permanent slot are working like galley slaves with little to no recognition with a hiring process that does not recognize your work at all.

Sure you see a person surfing The internet once in a while, because they can't leave while waiting for some data or or someone else to complete a task before you can continue your job. Apparently your not seeing the picture. Alot goes on and hanging out chatting in the cafe, (usally a 1:1), is not always pliable. Do you stand and watch the person that has been doing nothing but putting out fires for 6 hours straight? If not you really don't know what is going on at the station that took a couple minutes break in the fab....

Wrong. It was over when the masses were sitting in long lines in the cold to buy iphones. RIP intel.

When I was with Intel, I sat around for almost a year with nothing to do while the group slowly melted away to nothingness. Point I'm trying to make is that we should not blame people for goofing around as management may simply not be giving them enough to do. Maybe there isn't anything to do? At the end of the day I think it comes down to management. It's pretty bad at Intel.

Lots of people receiving folders today with 2 weeks to make a decision. Smells like take a VSP or get laid off.

I am not the OP, but here is my 2 cents: It's not life (at least in the Valley) - most folks working for thousands of companies here are engaged and driven, with hunger and sense of purpose, trying to make it and improve. We are milking existing revenue streams, so, there is no need to compete and push hard as other guys do. That's life.

You're suffering from confirmation bias. There are tons of blue badges that work hard and tons of green badges that work hard. There are also tons of green and blue badges who don't work hard. That's life.
