Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Nov Derby (Chemineer)

Nov have decided to lay off nearly all of the staff (except design engineers and sales) and move production to Montrose in Scotland resulting in nearly 40 job losses. This is Apparently to save money on duplication of management and machinery. Moving a successful profitable company which has long been established in Derby, and after only around 2 years of NOV ownership. Nov are a terrible company to work for who only think of the shareholders and money.

The products were great, the research and design was brilliant, but overall, the management was non-existent. Take, for example, a good manager. Somewhere above them is an overpaid buffoon, who has to confuse in order to hang on to their salary. The boss who can engineer, but pays his staff not to, is crippling to any decent company. Special offer on Chomps, this week only.

Who say's that it's a bad thing though? The customers need to know! The product can be made by anyone, the materials are cheap. staff though, oh well, that's where we're gonna struggle. Maybe we should have wound it down and gradually until I get my bonus.
