the BK failure will be obvious in 4 months when they disclose there timelines for the next generation of chips.. it will be shocking how late intel is compared to the competition

if intel gives you money to leave take it!!! you can find a new job in less time than the money they offer
Intel is on a drunken sailor spending spree that's ridiculous. The liberal leadership of Krzanich and Renee James will tank Intel. Clearly these two haven't a clue how to run this large corporation and all you have to do to see their failure, look at the numbers.
From my understanding, people get a baseline two months followed by 1 additional week per year working at intel. In other words, 8 weeks + week * (Years of service).
This article, which claims to be based on a confidential internal memo says the minimum separation will be 2 months pay.

Yes the writing is on the wall so i already applied for jobs and have a couple of interviews coming up. Just wanted to know how much time they typically give you to pick one option over other so i can plan. This is the first time i am going through this :(
Their voluntary separation program is still very, very, very giving compared to EVERY company I have worked for! If you are offered it TAKE IT AND RUN! Seriously Intel is probably the most caring company you can get separated from. And yes getting laid off sucks bad. I have been there a couple of times. It is very scary. It is incredibly nerve-racking.
If you are worried start sending out resumes and contacting friends and family now before the rush.
I've worked for several tech companies and been let go from one (before Intel). Intel's timeline and severance packages are bigger than any I've seen in the industry. Even if they aren't what they were in pre bubble, i'd take a layoff from Intel over one from most other companies hands down. Take it from someone whose gone into work only to find out I was no longer employed. I was handed one week's pay. True story.
Intel use to provide great severance packages for those they laid off. But with the leadership change in BK, he has stripped the employees of many benefits and wage increases. BK, who's a flaming Obama lover, is a communist who's only job is to strip employees of everything they have now. He's an axe man for lack of a better term. So severance packages wouldn't be that lucrative in today's environment.
