Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Drowning in 'Agile/Scrum' training - can't wait to quit talking about the Transformation and get on with it.

Is anyone else getting tired of waiting for the COEs, pods, other post-transformation vogue, get underway so we can get going on the WORK? The Oldsters that are left following the RIF Rapture will recall that we USED TO be ágile without all the scaffolding of Version One, etc to make us walk in lock-step with a bureaucracy that we claim we're thinning out now. There once was a time (believe this kiddies, it's true) when there really were great project managers who could manage teams comprised of diverse skills, levels of hierarchy, with an array of deliverables and they could do it without a strictly prescribed apparatus - they used brains and good communication to manage teams.... ah, the halcyon days. But no more of that, let's get the re-stacks done, fund the projects, pick the teams and let's move on!

Guys, have fun...TI is not a product company. They don't own any critical deliverable, so have fun in agile way of.

The reason management was sold agile was because the pied pipers that championed agile made it sound like it could save money and reduce head count. The reality is that agile work sometimes actually takes longer then waterfall. But then again agile is not about reducing the amount of work but rather providing shorter feedback cycles to ensure your project is on track and is taking shape the way the client would like to be.

But even then nobody can use the skateboard...

As for shitty project managers like CM and MP, yeah they are now shitty Scrum Masters. At the end of the day they lack the skills to really drive a project whether it is waterfall or scrum. Its people doing what they do best, going through the motions and offering the illusion of providing value add.

Thank you 104516 and 104526 for confirming what I fear is going to happen... the vacuum that was left by the removal of excess GTKY's and FFF activities is being filled by a rabid, 'Born Again' fervor for all things Agile and Scrum. I've already been part of a couple of Ágile projects this year and the same PM who couldn't conduct a waterfall project is now mumbling and stumbling his way through stand ups... plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose

516 hit the nail on the head with that one! Our management thinks we should go agile everywhere and everyone should get scrum matter certified and we will be 100% agile in 6 months... They are delusional. 75% of the company is still waterfall minded and keep scheduling more and more meetings and adding all this bureaucracy that goes against everything agile.

And after all the training most of you still don't get agile and ruin it anyway. Half my team is scrum master certified and still can't do a standup in under 15 mins or with out referencing a visio, spreadsheet or creating more meetings.
