At first I laughed thinking it was an absurd notion. Then I wondered, what's the corporate tax rate in Taiwan?

Corporate tax rate in Taiwan? Whatever it is, it's probably more than bribing officials for tax breaks.
The real question is who can make my WiFi enabled fridge best talk to my Bluetooth enabled toilet, and order more fiber from Amazon Fresh. Somebody 'av a go, mate!
It really depends on what Avago plans on doing with Broadcom's wireless connectivity business. Are they buying Broadcom only for their network infrastructure business and later selling off the connectivity? Or are they planning to keep both? Avago has some interest products that are used on mobile phones. RF components that no one else really has. If they do plan on keeping on the wireless connectivity portion, it could be a problem if they start bundling everything as one solution, similar to what we did with our app+modem+connectivity bundle. Since we no longer have the entire SOC apps+modem+connectivity wins at companies like Samsung or Apple, it could be just another reason that pushes OEMs to no longer want the entire SOC bundle from us. And if that happens, similar to what happened at Samsung, it leaves the door open for OEMs to source LTE modems or app processors from someone else. Definitely, not good if Avago keeps that part of broadcom's business. Let's hope they don't plan on keeping it.
