LOL. Following in the footsteps of IBM is NOT something to be proud of. The more apparent the financial engineering becomes the less attractive they appear. But they've been around for more than a 100 years, so I'm sure they're doing something right. Not so sure about QCOM.
Here we go again with the 5K layoffs paranoia, Anonymous103278, enjoy your RSU and long weekend .... take a hike and relax man.
Why bother raising E when it's far easier to lower S. And guess what? EPS is boosted either way!! I like the cosmic coincidence of the $5B announcement the same day as bonus RSUs are released (and promptly dumped). Did the CFO buyback the first share from himself?
Wait till the official layoff announcement. All your hopes of higher stock price will be fulfilled in next few weeks. Investors love layoffs.
As much as I like the slight rise in our stock, Qcom stock has been a dog relative to all the other semis I have. Broadcom is nearing it's 52wk high after rising from the twenties and NXP is well over 100 now. Cirrus Logic is past the mid thirties now also nearing a 52wk high. Intel is hovering around the 30ies too. Please more buyback.
Georgie you are the man!!!
They could be wrong, but the chart isn't.
zerohedge is wrong more times than right. That said, I think the markets in general are due for a correction. The severity of that correction is anyone's guess
Biometrics say this is not a healthy market. The market will be declined health coverage due to being addicted to buybacks.

Anon103125, u nailed it. It's the New (Para)normal. Let's thank IBM, Apple, Carl Icahn, ZIRP, Elvis and Janis for showing us the light
I wish the stock movement upward was a result of our improving business prospects, and not the results of short term financial slight-of-hand by a bunch of bankers from wall street and our board of directors. But I'll take the gains anyway I can get them.
The entire selling bonds and using the money from the bond says to buy back shares from majority shareholders that are/will sell is just comical. It's like a homeowner, taking out a HELOC on their home to buy gifts for friends and family, hoping that the future will be bright and that the homeowner can pay off that debt (as low an interest rate as it is). Of course, if the homeowner has money problems in the future, he/she ends up losing his home. But that's different story, and it didn't really happen in recent times...Oh wait....
Helping to fund it with the new 401k fees they announced.
