This is pure cost cutting. Corporate vultures at their worst. At this time, being best doesnt matter. If you are a janitor and if the toilets simply will not remain clean without you, they will keep you. A principal software architect with a vision? Grah...get off...there is profit to be made here. Best employees be damned.
