Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Where's the transformation Brian?

Recap:

Aug 2014: Brian becomes CEO

Aug 2014-Jan 2015: Nothing

Jan 2015: Decide to close Canada. Based on available data, a high schooler could've made this decison. Not as macho of a decison as he made it sound like.

Feb 2015: Nothing

March 2015: Hire a vendor to pull names out of a hat for the Bullseye Lottery. Shuffle org charts around. Throw people into COEs so we can say we have COEs, but make no effort to make any sense of any of this nor make them effective.

April 2015: Say the word transformation a bunch and pretend like something has actually changed for the better.

This is disrespectful to the top talent Brian, you can do better than this. When you disrespect the top talent you disrespect the company. Your words are not consistent with your actions.

This is the OP I don't work at Target anymore. I am in greener pasteurs, i make more money, have more control over my destiny, got a promotion by being cut. To those who say the share price is up, yes cuts do that in the short term. But you never got successful by cutting people. And Brian doesn't seem like an idea guy. I'm actually not bitter at all I came out ahead in all respects because my skills were valued in the market. Because when you cut top talent they find another job in weeks. Good luck I wish you well. Again your not stuck with me I am in a better place :)

Let me summarize Target as an ex team member. Your share price is high now give it five years you have nowhere to go in the retail market the dynamics of the US population are changing and immigrants don't shop at Target. So I would sell as you are ahead. I doubt Brian has a winning strategy besides cost reduction which is short term. Working at a company in cost reduction mode sucks, so leave, don't stay!!! Let the lifers live the pain they created the mess by being complacent to Gregg and not having the cohonees yo speak up. You are Best Buy 3 years ago welcome to hell for the next 4 years. Same challenges, nowhere to expand, focusing on cost, let the market recover, squeezed by Amazon, .com will save us....

Ex-team member and current shareholder, quit the negativity! Share price has been doing quite well over the past several months, Brian is doing fine by me. If you don't like working at Target anymore, leave!

@94411: I was not referring to myself. I am referring to the many top performers who were either shown the door or who have left on their own since. Net result? We get stuck with people like you.

... One big miss on your observation... and I AM an ex-Team member and current shareholder: The Price of TGT Stock was in the 50's when Brian took over ... The Price of stock today is $82. I kept my $1000 shares when I left because I would have LOST money at the time.... Now that Brian's on board, I like the idea of having $30,000 more in my investment. Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here.

Unsubscribe 94417. 26 Years at TGT from store floor to nearly top floor. Your entitlement oozes from you. Why don't you set up a few dozen meetings and create a new roadmap for yourself at burger king.

94089, you don't see a problem with having no roadmaps for groups after letting 1700 people go? Shoot first, aim later doesn't sound like a winning strategy to me. Deep cuts and then figure things out later...not a plan I would ever subsribe to.

Drop the "Top Talent" BS..... Your perception of your value at TGT is HIGHLY overvalued.

I agree with the OP completely. Look at Brian the Butchers history. All he knows how to do is make cuts. He will be extremely successful at making a ton of cuts, but near zero at actually fixing or improving the organization.

We're steering a massive freighter, not a jet ski. It's going to take SOME time before you're able to see the results of the inputs. Teams don't even have road maps yet, so what changes do you expect to see already? Let's see what things look like in a quarter. Then let's see what TTS looks like 6 months after McNamara has been at the reins. Maybe by then they won't be the butt of all other pyramids jokes.
