Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Hey Heald, how is that "unofficial" teach out status working out for you now?

This process is slow, is like watching a vehicle stricken animal perish on the shoulder of the road

486 - There may not have been an official announcemnet, but OP's terminology is dead on. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

690, I agree with 693. Get any medical exams, dental exams, eye exams, fill your prescriptions and anything else you can now while you have coverage. Depending on your family situation, Cobra will vary from about $750 for one person per month and more for dependents. I just got Covered California--TG for Obamacare!

690 which is hard to pay for with no income, go get your meds refilled!

Was told by HR that if we close health insurance goes immediately.

There was a buyer. They walked away. The numbers couldn't work after the $30M fine. The last group at the table is highly unlikely. At this point they are more focused on trying to clear up the claims by providing reasoning which the DoE did not provide. We will close soon. Don't keep accepting these lies! The chance is VERY small and rather then just say that and give people an opportunity to start making the best decisions for their families they are leaving everyone hanging on a hope and a prayer. Prepare yourself people.

This Friday, if CCI does not pay the $250,000 Forbearance fee to B of A, they will not extend their $129,000,000 loan to April 30. They may not use Title IV funds for this purpose either. CCI was also supposed to have repaid all borrowings of Everest Canada (including accrued and unpaid interest) by April 17; however, CCI already filed for bankruptcy over there. It's not looking good...

637 I am at Concord and we were told that a CP on another campus said that a sale is unlikely and that we could be closing soon. I am not sure you want to call bullshit on things that are pretty clear at this point. I am not going through the laundry list of why a sale is unlikely, if you are too stupid to do some deductive reasoning then I can't help you. No one know when things are going to happen, but it is nice to hear that at least one CP is being more honest than spewing the real bullshit that there is a buyer, all is fine, business as usual...deal with it people.

540 and 637, if you two are being honest then neither will mind sharing what campuses you both work at that will be closing. If you're full of shit then you won't want to share your campus. We'll see soon!

586 it is not bullshit, I heard it on my campus too. It just seems like bullship that a CP is actually being honest.

540 I call bullshit. But as for students beeing silenced by the school or have no idea what is happening is no bullshit.

We were just told by our CP that a sale is not likely and we could close as early as next week. There's allegedly one buyer at the table but they're not optimistic. A teach out is not likely either.

475--you think that they would really make an "official" announcement about a teach out?

It is not in teach out yet. That would be a formal announcement to staff and students.

These would be the last to graduate from Milpitas campus (SJC).

It is in teach out. The ED has ordered Heald to allow the remaining students to finish their programs or to find help them find other programs. That's what a teach out is.

So these students would be the last to graduate in Milpitas campus, if it shuts down or go on to teach out, correct?

460- The car dealership next door annexed the parking lot. Those cars you see are all for sale.

My campus president said there's a buyer, so there must be a buyer. I mean, why would he lie?
