Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

2015 Layoffs at Teradata

Does anyone have info on potential reorg and layoffs that might be happening later in Q3 2015 at Teradata? I heard conflicting stories, some of my friends still work there, I left in 2011 but still keep track of what's happening with this once great company. You'll see many rumors on the web, so please make sure you are very careful about what you perceive as right or wrong

Are you aware of take over conversations or just assuming given the market value and state of the company?

everyone wants to get a piece of hadoop work because it gives them a sense of job security. a false sense of job security. if the ship is sinking, it doesn't matter what you grab on to because everything gets suck down as it sinks. better jump the ship before it starts sinking. im not waiting for the ruthless manager to can me.

Hadoop is a symptom. The terminal disease is pollution by the NCR culture, where internal turf wars trump delivering products customers need. Teradata has been in a death spiral since the forced union with NCR. The spin off didn't purge any of the poisonous NCR culture. And the main survivors are the very NCR bureaucrats who precipitated the demise.

hadoop is eating teradata up. stodgy out of touch execs and management have ruined what was once a great company. decided to jump ship a year ago and never looked back. best of luck you have great skills and will wind up somewhere where you will be appreciated.

Is that 10% in RB or Global?

V.P. in engineering got the axe. Will probably reduce the hardware group down to zero since they want to go cloud base and services. I know people who ask to be part of the next RIF after the last one and they were refused. Probably means they already have a legal approved count down RIF list of employees. RIF's will probably continue as long as they remain smaller then the number that legally requires reporting.

My friend's manager is nearly 60's . Old guy is useless.

My friend is laid off as a part of RIF . Her manager refused to provide any recommendation for her , as she is laid off . what kind of rule / ethics .

High management should be responsible . with just 5 bn$ market cap its ready to be acquired

"Just wait everyone, this isn't over." -> Could you give reliable sources why this isn't over? And if it isn't over, how many batches of redundancy and until when?

There were 80 let go from R&D. max 26 weeks severance.

Looks like TD is ripe for a takeover...

Leadership team doesn't suffer, makes the money, and walks away with the golden parachute.

NOT THE TERADATA THAT I USED TO LOVE.

September layoffs like August, under the number that requires reporting to SEC. Package offer is 1 week severance per year, subsidized COBRA, but I heard that some people negotiated the package. Don't know how much success they had.

Seems it's a lot of Cloud People, all the way to the top. TD throwing in the towel on Cloud, like other HD companies, like NetApp, EMC. Now just focused on bottom line.

I was told to let go at rancho bernardo . 2 week notice . nothing much . no transparency from managers. No future goal , hired new kids who can't code just filling positions.

Manila's previous center head was the first to go in manila. After that there were a lot of people who just disappeared in the office. Layoffs are still ongoing. Just last week around 40 were approached and notified. People in the office were so tensed when the project room opens or when a lead is walking around the area.

And there are a lot of cut back on the expenses too.

More layoffs today. I was let go on Monday. A friend still there said layoffs are still occurring, no news about the planned extent or when it will end. Everyone is shell-shocked. Since January 2015 we had lots of new hires, little kids that can't keep their eyes off their phones during meetings, can't focus their attention, don't accomplish things, but they are probably not paid much. They certainly don't replace the seasoned professionals who were let go in April 2014, but they fill a seat and they are cute as buttons.

Way back it was a great company (not any more) giving bonuses to their employees while other companies were struggling during recession. The new managers who are all interested in performance figures and not interested in their employees at all, is the sign of fall of this company. By the way don't bother firing more people, as you will start seeing more people going out and new crap coming in....
